Strategic Kids and ACLA Speech and Debate have teamed up to offer students the opportunity to develop vital communication skills and build their confidence through fun activities and games. Students will engage in lesson plans that will center on two primary areas: Public Speaking and Acting/Interpretation. At the end of the camp, students will have a performance for parents and other participants.
Day 1 Public Speaking - Speaking with Confidence and Poise. This is the ultimate confidence building lesson! Participants will learn the importance of basic communication fundamentals and how to implement them into every aspect of their communication. Acting and Interpretation - Bringing Characters to Life. This is the perfect introduction lesson for the character in your family. Students will learn basic acting techniques and develop foundational acting techniques.
Day 2 Public Speaking - The Art of Personal Storytelling. Through taking this lesson, participants will learn how to tell motivating stories about themselves and other individuals. In this course, students will learn how to captivate audiences through the art of personal narratives. They will learn what makes a great personal story and how to use this type of art form to inspire others. Acting and Interpretation - The Art of Fictional Storytelling. Ever been lost in a story? In this lesson, students will become engaging storytellers and will learn to transport their audience into fictional worlds in this fun class that will also develop vital presentation skills.
Day 3 Public Speaking - Wowing your audience with word play. We all know that it is not what you say, but how you say it. Participants in this class will learn the value of deciding how to say it with style. Students will learn figures of speech and study great orators of the past to see how they wowed their audiences with word play. Acting and Interpretation - Playing Characters with Emotions. Bring on the DRAMA! Here students will learn the nuances of acting. They will learn how to make their audience feel what their characters are feeling. Ready to make them laugh? Ready to make them cry? How about a little fear?
Day 4 Rehearsal role assignment and final performance. On Day 4 students will start organizing the performance for their final presentation. The student learn teamwork and leadership skills as they take charge of the performance.
