The Summer Scholars Transfer Institute (SSTI) is a residential program that invites today’s community college students to immerse themselves in the vibrant residential life at UC Riverside while participating in a 3-unit course from their home campus.
Through a blend of interactive activities and networking opportunities, students explore campus resources, connect with like-minded students, and gain valuable insights into the transition to a large research institution.

Frequently Asked QuestionsThe Summer Scholars Transfer Institute (SSTI) provides Santa Ana College students
with the opportunity to complete an intensive UC transferable course through a hybrid
model of instruction- students will meet as a class prior to the start of the -day
residential component at UCR.
Students participating in this program must be at least 18 years of age by May 31,
2026. Current SAC students who have completed 24 transferable units, English 101/ENGL 1000C
or equivalent, and a transferable math course by the end of Spring 2026. Have a minimum
transferable GPA of 2.5 (Honors section requires a minimum GPA of 3.0)
Make sure you meet the priority eligibility requirements and submit a completed application
by the priority deadline TBD. Eligible students are evaluated. If selected, you must attend a mandatory orientation on TBD and first course lecture at Santa Ana College. Additional meetings will be required before the start of the program but you will
be notified by your instructor on the dates/times.
Students are responsible for paying the course fees. The program will cover cost of textbooks
and class materials.
Yes. History 124 is UC and CSU transferable.
Prior to starting the program, you need to attend the mandatory orientation meeting
and the first day of class scheduled for TBD. At that time, your instructor will provide the course syllabus, additional meeting
dates/times and assignments you need to complete BEFORE going to UC Riverside on TBD.
Yes. Transportation will be provided. Students will meet at SAC and travel by bus
to UC Riverside. More detailed information will be provided by your home campus program coordinator.
During the seven days, students will have to follow a schedule that includes class,
study time, eating breaks, and sleeping. Although students are in class for long periods
of time, there will be free time for fun activities.
Students are expected to stay on campus at all times. Exceptions may be granted by
request to the program administrator. For more questions, ask the SSTI Program Coordinator.
Students will stay at UC Riverside for the entire seven days and will be engaged in
intensive study which will require full attention and time. Please make arrangements
in advance with regards to work, school and other personal commitments.
