his certificate prepares students for the Santa Ana College Fashion Design and Merchandising program. Get ready for an entry-level position in the fashion industry. Students can choose sewing physical clothing or designing them digitally. For digital design, learn software like Adobe Illustrator. Gain soft skills needed to work in fashion and merchandising. ​

Course Requirements
Students must pass the following course
VFDM 100 - Introduction to the Fashion Industry

Students must pass ONE of the following courses:
VFDM 105 - Beginning Sewing
VDMA 310 - Introduction to Digital Media Arts

Students must pass ONE of the following courses:
VBUS 400 - Employability Skills
ESL 520 - English for Work 2

If you pass VFDM 100, 105, and VDMA 310 with a grade of B or higher, you can earn credit for FDM 100 Introduction to the Fashion Industry, FDM 105A Beginning Sewing, and DM 195 Introduction to Digital Media Arts through the credit-by-exam process. Credits from VFDM 100, 105, and VDMA 310 can count towards a fashion design certificate or degree at Santa Ana College. There is no tuition cost for VFDM 100, 105, and VDMA 310.

  • Be at least 18 years old on the first day of class.
