(SANTA ANA, Calif.) — In honor of Native American Heritage Month, Santa Ana College, in collaboration with Pechanga Studios and Picture Motion, will host a special screening of People of the West, Episode 8: “Red Power,” on Thursday, November 19, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Phillips Hall Theatre.

People of the West is a ten-part documentary series that tells the history of California Indian peoples through Indigenous voices. The screening invites students, families, and community members to come together for an evening of storytelling, reflection, and conversation.

“Our college stands on the homeland of the Tongva and Acjachemen peoples, who have cared for this land for generations and continue to live and lead here today,” said Dr. Annebelle Nery, President of Santa Ana College. “I am grateful to Pechanga Studios and Picture Motion for helping us share these stories with our community. When we listen to Indigenous voices, we honor the past and build a future where every learner belongs.”

Following the screening, guests are invited to stay for a panel conversation and an open audience Q&A, a chance to reflect on the film and continue the dialogue together.

The screening is free and open to the public. For more information or to save your seat, visit sac.edu/nahm.  Phillips Hall Theatre is located at Santa Ana College, 1530 W. 17th St., Santa Ana, CA 92706.
