Pageant of The Trees Ushers in Holiday Season

Image 1Mark your calendars and reserve your ticket today for the fifth annual Pageant of The Trees, to be held at 6:00 p.m. on December 4. Hosted again by title sponsor, The First American Corporation, the evening is a great way to kick off the holiday season. The evening will feature hors d’oeuvres, music, and a holiday auction. A silent auction will include tabletop Christmas trees decorated by students, staff, faculty and community partners. Space is limited, so request your ticket today. The cost is $125 per person and checks should be made payable to “SAC Foundation/POTT.”

10th Annual Chancellor’s Ball Nets over $135,000

Image 2Supporters of Santa Ana and Santiago Canyon Colleges danced the night away at the Disneyland Hotel on October  12, generating not only some lively moves, but also much appreciated funds for scholarships. Dubbed Decade of Distinction, the event is a cornerstone of the Rancho Santiago Community College District’s fundraising activity. Thanks to all of you who supported the Chancellor’s Ball.

Jose Vargas and RFG Scholarship Honors Santa Ana Policeman

Image 2Roberto Gallegos came to the United States from Ecuador in 1983. He became a citizen and served in the Marine Corp. from 1986-1991. He founded a business in Santa Ana, the RFG Bank, which provides home loans to aspiring home owners, helping them to fulfill the American dream. He loves the USA, calling it a land of opportunity and he looks for ways to give back to the community which has allowed him to prosper.

Donna Scarbrough’s Deep Roots

Image 3Excitement, expectation and a strong dose of pride filled the air as 300 graduating students stepped forward in 1949 to receive the first diplomas given at Santa Ana College’s new Bristol Street campus. Foundation Board member Donna Scarbrough was one of those students. “I remember two rows of one-story buildings, Quonset huts and lots of mud,” she laughingly recalls.

SAC Fire Academy Puts
Top Candidates on the Line

“I’ve been through three full-time fire academies, and the Santa Ana College Fire Academy is far superior for extensive basic training,” enthuses Jim Flint. A firefighter in Long Beach for the last five years, Jim earned his Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Fullerton in 1996 in kinesiology and began work as a exercise physiologist in the Fitness Lab of SAC’s Fire Academy.
