Carrie Woodson, M.A.
Dance Educator | Choreographer | Artistic Consultant
Carrie Woodson is a distinguished dance educator, choreographer, and performing artist whose career in the arts spans more than three decades. Her extensive background encompasses every facet of the industry, from high-level academic instruction in higher
education to pre-professional training and professional performance. She holds an M.A. in Dance from California State University, Long Beach, and a B.A. in Dance from California State University, Fullerton, further supported by a Vocational Education Credential in Visual and Performing Arts.
Artistic & Performance Career
As a professional performer, Carrie’s career is highlighted by her work with the Disneyland Resort and featured roles in the Glory of Christmas and Easter Productions. A globally minded artist, she toured internationally with His Grace Dance Ministry and the CSU Fullerton Dance Repertory Theatre. Her modern dance technique was shaped by an extraordinary lineage
of master teachers and icons of the form, including:

Academic Leadership & Pedagogy
Now in her 13th year with the Rancho Santiago Community College District, Professor
Woodson serves as adjunct faculty at Santa Ana College (SAC) and Santiago Canyon College (SCC). Her instructional repertoire is vast, covering Dance History, Ballet, Screen
Dance, Pilates, Dance Conditioning, Choreography, and Production. Beyond technical training,
she is deeply committed to student mentorship, serving as a Student Success Advisor with Spectrum Dance Center to guide emerging artists through academic and professional
pathways.
Certifications & Professional Service
A recognized leader in dance advocacy, Carrie served as the Vice President of Dance for
CAHPERD (California Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance) from 2017–2019 and was honored as the 2020 Professional Dance Educator of the Year. Her influence on the future of dance education includes her work on the California Commission on Teacher
Credentialing (CTC) Advisory Panel, where she supported the development of the California
Dance Credential. Carrie is a lifelong learner, constantly integrating health and wellness into her
practice. She is certified in Progressive Ballet Technique (PBT) and the Zena Rommett Floor-Barre™ method (NYU Harkness Center). She also holds teacher training credentials from Ballet
Magnificat and has completed advanced nutrition education through an international
Sports and Fitness intensive in Bali.
