Description:
PREREQUISITE: Ability to read and understand English, Basic computer knowledge using computer with high-speed Internet access with supported computer operating systems and Internet/Web browsers, Adobe Flash Player & Adobe Acrobat Reader. A comprehensive study of medical insurance billing, introduction to CPT, ICD & HCPCS coding and collection strategies. Procedures and paperwork involving various insurance providers including, Medicare, Medi-Cal, TRICARE, CHAMPVA, California Workers' Compensation System and Managed Care plans for inpatient and outpatient claims. Privacy rules and regulations involving patient confidential information governed by HIPAA. Set-up a mock medical practice using web-based software to enter new practice information, new patient demographic and insurance information, patient billing, electronic and paper claims processing. Students will be notified with access to the online class prior to orientation. Details on the purchase materials will be covered at the orientation.    There is a $225 material fee payable to the instructor at orientation via PayPal.
