Is a team of SAC student workers dedicated to reach out to families with the purpose of empowering, engaging and making Higher Education a possibility for their children by providing skills, knowledge, and resources available.
Inspire, transform, and empower families to achieve Higher Education
Services Provided
- Facilitate presentations to K-12 Schools which consists of three sessions
- Participate in community and school events such as College & Resources Fairs
- Facilitate presentations and parents' orientations
- Santa Ana College campus tours
- Staff Higher Education Centers, Santa Ana Public Library and Mexican Consulate
- Outreach using non-traditional methods such as home visits and promoting out in the community
Objectives:
- Inspire, Transform, and empower families to achieve Higher Education
- Promote
Higher Education alternatives and resources within families and K-12 students
- Promote Santa Ana College and resources such as adult classes, credit classes and high school programs
- Inform parents on California K-12 educational system and Higher Education options (A-G, GPA, Financial Aid, Universities and Community Colleges)
- Encourage parents to participate in their children's education
Camino De Amistad:
"Camino de Amistad" is an annual event designed to increase visibility of higher education in the community of Santa Ana and to help new high school students prepare for the year ahead.
- 500 volunteers distributed 30,000 door-hangers
- All parents attend volunteer recognition lunch
- Opportunities to renew motivation to help children prepare for college
- Offer Secondary Grade Students Community Service hours for Camino De Amistad event
