OTAN offers online workshops and many other resources. We encourage you to go to the site www.otan.us. The face-to-face and online workshops are available for flex. Webinars and self-directed activities currently are not because we do not have a way to monitor completion. Nevertheless, we would encourage you to check them out for your own personal professional development. The online workshops are "synchronous" which means you need to attend at a specific time. They are 1.5 hours long, but we give you 2 hours for prep time. You will receive a certificate upon completion via email which we require for flex credit. To register, go online to www.otan.us and scroll down to the Calendar or the Training tab. Then follow the instructions.
CALPRO offers online courses and many other resources. We encourage you to go to the site www.calpro-online.org. The face-to-face and online courses are available for flex. The courses are 4 weeks long and "asynchronous" meaning you participate 4 hours a week but any time you are free to do so. The courses include occasional webinars which are internet gathering by the class. The courses are advertised for 12 hours, but our experience plus the addition of the webinars indicates that conscientious teacher may take considerably more time, so we give 16 hours for flex credit. The certificate you receive for completion must be submitted for flex.
CALPRO also offers a self-assessment which can currently be taken for 1 hour of flex. We will promote this more in the future as we begin to encourage teachers to create and maintain personal professional development plans. You will receive a certificate in your email upon completion. This certificate must be submitted for flex credit. you will also need to create a free account with CALPRO to participate.
