Course Description: Traces the history of film from the recording of a single event through the silent film era to current classic films, and identifies the ways films reflect the values of American culture. Culminates in the use of classic and contemporary elements as a basis for modern film.
Step 1: Students will watch the DVD program, Moguls and Movie Stars. (The DVD program is available in class or students can watch the movie online using YouTube.)
Step 2: After watching the DVD program, students will complete graded assignments pertaining to the DVD program.
Step 3: Students will read genres handout.
Step 4: After reading the handout, students will complete the graded assignment for the handouts.
Step 5: Students will watch 3 movies. The movies can be selected from the class movie list or students can pick a movie to watch after teacher approval.
Step 6: Write 3 essays (one for each movie).
Step 7: Complete final test.
