Academic ESL

Four levels of Introduction to Academic ESL classes emphasize grammatical structures of English along with skill development in reading and writing required for academic success.  These classes are offered on the Santa Ana College (SAC) campus.  Classes are free and no credit grades are given.

  • Academic ESL Beginning 3

Provides practice in improving sentences structure.


  • Academic ESL Intermediate 1

Provides instruction in developing short paragraph writing


  • Academic ESL Intermediate 2

Provides instruction in paragraph organization and construction of complex sentences.

  • Academic ESL Intermediate 3

Provides instruction in developing multiple paragraphs and advanced sentence structures.


  • Advanced Grammar Review

Provides an advanced grammar review and strengthens writing skills needed in academic settings.  This class is recommended for students who need a review before taking the SAC credit TELD test.


New students should go to B-8 to make an appointment for an ESL Placement Test.  Tests are usually at 4:00 pm on Wednesdays at Santa Ana College (SAC) in B-30, but they may also be taken at Centennial Education Center (CEC) on other days.  For more information, visit B-8 on the SAC campus from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm or 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Monday through Thursday.
