​​Educational Concerns

Students or concerned parties have the right to contact the Board of Registered Nursing or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) regarding concerns about the educational program. It is recommended that this be done after all college means for resolving problem/issues have been exhausted.

​​​General education requirements that are not prerequisite coursework may be completed before or during the program. These requirements must ​be completed before taking the National Council Licensing Examination-Registered Nurse examination.

Re-admission to Program after Failure/Withdrawal 

A student may re-enter the Nursing Program once after withdrawal or failure. No student shall be re-admitted after two (2) withdrawals or failures of SAC Nursing Program courses. In cases of grave, extenuating circumstances, a student may file an appeal for re-admittance after two withdrawals or failures. The Program Director will determine re-entry.

Scholarship/Financial Assistance
Contact the Financial Aid Office for information at (714) 564-6242. The Scholarship Office (714) 564-6478 and Health Sciences/Nursing Department can provide information about scholarships specific to nursing.
Transfer Credit
Applicants who have had previous courses at an accredited institution may transfer the equivalent general education and/or nursing courses to SAC. Applicants must have completed these courses with a grade of "C" or better and the prerequisites with a grade point average of 2.5 or better. Official transcripts must be submitted to the Admissions and Records Office. Counseling will evaluate general education courses for equivalency at any time during the year. The Program Director will evaluate previous nursing courses for equivalency by appointment. 
Challenge Credit
Students with previous nursing education or experience may challenge any nursing course. An application for "Credit By Examination" may be obtained in the Admissions Office. The application must be completed by the student, processed by the Admissions Office, and submitted to the Nursing Department. The student will be directed to the appropriate faculty and will be given objectives for the course. An appointment will be made to take the examination(s). The student must be currently enrolled in the course. The application to challenge must be submitted within the first two weeks of the course. The theory course must be successfully passed before challenging the concurrent clinical course. Challenge courses require registration fees. Students may attempt "Credit by Examination" only once in a particular course. If a course has been failed, credit by examination will not be allowed. Grading of the examination is on a "pass/no pass" basis.
