WHAT IS DUAL ENROLLMENT?
Dual enrollment is an exciting and unique opportunity for all high school students to earn FREE TRANSFERABLE college credit through Santa Ana College. In general, students can enroll in up to 11 units every fall and spring semester (as long as they meet any prerequisites).
Please review the options below as you seek to enhance your educational journey at SAC!
COORDINATED & NON-COORDINATED COURSES
Students enroll in a SAC course offered as part of a partnership agreement between the college and a local high school district.
Classes are taught either at a local high school campus during school hours or after school.
These courses are completely free for students. Depending on the modality of the course, the school and or the college will cover textbook or material fees.
Through a designated pathway students will receive dual credit.
Students must complete the online application to SAC and submit their Special Admit form to the program coordinator. If all is correct, the student will be enrolled in the course(s) selected by Admissions & Records.
Students can enroll in SAC courses offered on our campus or online with approval from their high school and SAC Dean.
Enrollment fees are waived but college and or material-related fees apply.
Students are also responsible for the cost of textbooks, however, students are encouraged to enroll in courses labeled as "OER (Open Educational Resources) or ZTC (Zero Textbook Cost).
Students will earn college credit for courses taken, but their high school will determine if they can receive dual credit towards their high school graduation requirements as well.
Students are responsible for completing their special admit for and for registering for their course(s).
