You are
cordially invited to participate in the 2008 Commencement Exercises
at Santa Ana
College.
We look forward to having you, your family and friends attend.
Rehearsal
for Commencement
There will be NO formal rehearsal for the
commencement ceremony. Graduation candidates should
arrive at the stadium attired in "black" cap and gown, no
later than 5:30 PM Thursday, June 5th. All
candidates will be directed to walk around the stadium to the east
side and line up in pairs behind the appropriate signs.
Academic
Regalia
All candidates for graduation are expected to participate in commencement
dressed in "academic regalia". Caps should be worn
level on the head, the mortarboard being parallel with the
ground. Caps and gowns are black and can be obtained from the Don Bookstore
for $30,
May 19 - June 3. Announcements and assorted gifts will also be
available from the bookstore. Rings are available now and take
6 - 8 weeks for delivery.
Academic
Honors
Students who qualify for Academic Honors will receive a white tassel
from the Graduation Office. The published list in the
Commencement program is for Commencement purposes only and based on
completed classes at the end of fall semester. If you feel you
qualify based on the requirements listed in the catalog, please
contact the Graduation Office at (714) 564-6089.
Commencement
Procession
Graduates may park at the Stadium beginning at 5:00 PM. by 6:00 PM
all Commencement candidates should be in line ready to enter the
stadium through the east tunnels (Flower Street).
At your
assembly area, faculty marshals and student marshals will organize
the processional lines. Candidates must have a
name card prior to lining up. Name cards will be distributed to
candidates by the Graduation Office the morning of graduation from
9:00 -11:00 AM in the Santa Ana College Amphitheatre. College
representatives will use these cards to announce your name as you
walk across the stage. In addition, commencement photographers
will use these cards to send you photo information. The
graduation candidate lines will follow the faculty to the field
level. Each person in line should stay six feet from the person
in front of him or her at all times.
The procession
will begin promptly at 6:30 PM.
Ceremony
Santa Ana College president will preside over
the ceremony, which will begin promptly at 6:30 PM and last
approximately two hours. We will honor special accomplishments
by students and faculty and individually recognize each
graduate. At the end of the ceremony, graduates will exit from
the field, and guests will exit from the stadium. Guests will
not be allowed to enter the field.
Guest
Admission/Seating
Tickets for family and friends are not required. Seating is
available on a first come basis; gates open at 5:00 PM. The
Commencement program may not be appropriate for small children.
Balloons and flowers in vases will not be allowed into the
stadium. Large strollers will not be allowed into the seating
area.
Guests must remain seated throughout the ceremony and may
not block the view of others for purposes of taking pictures or
videos. Guests will not be allowed to stand in the aisles
during the ceremony.
Parking & Directions
The stadium is located at the corner of Civic Center Drive and Flower
Streets in Santa Ana.
Park in the parking structure immediately west of the bowl on Civic Center Drive.
Parking lot for student and guest parking opens at 5:00 PM and costs
$5 per car. See

Special
Arrangements
Please call Disabled
Student Services at (714) 564-6295 for assistance for
candidates with physical disabilities. Handicap seating is
available for guests.
Photographer
There will be a professional photographer at graduation that will
photograph each student as he or she receives his or her
diploma. A free proof will be mailed to you at no
obligation. Address cards will be completed upon registration
for commencement in the Santa Ana College Bookstore.
