Program Services  (SSSP)

Writing and Math Assistance

English and Math are two areas that are crucial to students academic
and transfer success. Many times we hear back from university students
who wish they would have sharpened their skills in these areas while in
the comforts of a community college. SSSP offers you this opportunity
with individual and/or group assistance in these subjects. Students who
take advantage of these services will not only succeed while at SAC,
but will be better prepared for the university curriculum.

 Priority Registration

Waiting to register for classes that you need can be frustrating. As a member
of SSSP you will be able to enroll in classes on the second day of registration,
every semester. This will not only ensure that you are able to follow the
class schedule you have planned, but guarantee transfer requirements are
met in a timely manner.

Academic Advisement

Using your Education Plan as a guide, we will work together to prepare the best
possible route for you to achieve your academic goals. SSSP will work with you
to ensure that you maintain good academic standing in order to keep you eligible
for financial aid, scholarships, and transfer to a university.

Guidance through Transfer Process

For many students the transfer process can be very confusing. SSSP will work
with each student to streamline this process. From researching universities and
their requirements, to filing paperwork on time, we will be with you each step of
the way to make sure the transition to the university is as smooth as possible.

Individualized Scholarship and Financial Aid Assistance

Finding money for college is not only difficult, but also time consuming. Many
students never apply and miss out on assistance that could significantly help
finance their education. Our staff will help you make sense of forms, applications,
and deadlines, while connecting you to resources that will allow you to
concentrate on more important things…. like your education.

Academic Learning Center

The Academic Learning Center provides a quiet learning environment where
serious students come to study, work on homework, and/or use computers.
Here students will find a computer lab, a study area, and a conference room
for private, and/or group study sessions.

Laptop Loan Program

After completing one semester as an active SSSP student, you will become
eligible to borrow one of our laptop computers. These computers are equipped
with Microsoft Office, and have wireless internet capabilities for students on the go!

Personal and Professional Development Workshops

SSSP offers student workshops in a wide range of topics. From time management,
to finding money for college, these workshops give students that extra bit of
information to help you prepare for what ever personal or professional obstacles
they may encounter.

SSSP Grant

SSSP students, who are eligible for a Pell Grant, can qualify for the SSSP Grant.
This competitive grant is given to full-time SSSP students who are active in the
program, enrolled in or have completed Math and English requirements, and have
a 2.0 or above cumulative GPA.
(Eligibility and amount of grant are subject to change.)

Summer Bridge Program

High school students wishing to make a smooth transition into college may apply
to the SSSP Summer Bridge Program. During the summer prior to your first
freshman semester, you will be oriented to college life through workshops,
lectures, group work, and team building exercises. Students will not only become
official members of SSSP, but also make connections with other students before
fall classes begin.
