The Service Learning Center (SLC) at Santa Ana College encourages civic responsibility among students through community service.  The center guides and supports students while they decide upon their area of interest. The program keeps in constant contact with many local community agencies; each which offers numerous service learning opportunities.

Service Learning Center offers faculty members the opportunity to integrate service learning in the curriculum by engaging students in service tasks that have clear goals and meet genuine needs in the community.  It can be applied across all subjects and can involve a single student, or a group of students, or classroom.  For example: on student may serve at a local food pantry while studying the roots of poverty.

Additionally, the Service Learning Center exists to integrate service learning into the culture of the College and enhance the consciousness of the Santa Ana community.

The purpose of the Service Learning Center is to:

  • facilitate activities that promote social responsibility

  • provide curricular developmental opportunities

  • foster mutually beneficial relationships with the College and local community.
