Student Activities Club Resource Manual

.EVENT PLANNING

The following model does not guarantee successful activities.   However, Student Affairs professionals around the nation endorse it.  It is known as the "SIX P's" of program development and event planning.

1. PICK an activity that contributes the most to the achievement of
   your goals.

2. PLAN the activity as early as possible.  This will allow for the details
to be taken care of before they grow into overwhelming tasks.

3. PROMOTE the activity being as creative as possible.  Figure out who
the target groups are and advertise with this group in mind.

4. PARTICIPATE in the activity along with members of the club.

5. PHOLLOW up on what happened before, during and after the activity.
Evaluations can help in planning for the next event.

6. PROFIT from the event.  This is not only monetary profit, but should
also be a profitable experience for the club members
