California's Board of Governors Waiver (BOGW) Program waives
enrollment fees for qualified residents of California for the entire
school year. Students may receive a waiver for any number of units,
with no minimum. All students with some financial need qualify in
addition to those who receive Aid to Families with Dependent Children
or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (AFDC/TANF), Supplemental
Security Income or General Assistance. Students must submit a FAFSA
for processing in order to establish eligibility, or current
documentation of receipt of TANF/CalWORKs, SSI or General Assistance.
ELIGIBILITY
REQUIREMENTS
Applications for FALL
2008, SPRING
2009, and SUMMER 2009 are available in the Admissions and Records
Office and the Financial Aid Office. California residents who attend
community college may be eligible to have their enrollment fee paid by the State of California.
METHOD A

If you are receiving or your parent is
receiving TANF/Cal Works, SSI/SSP or General Assistance.

If you have certification from the
California Department or Veteran's Affairs or the National Guard
Adjustant General, that you are eligible for a dependent's fee
waiver.

If you are eligible as a recipient of
the Congressional Medal of Honor or as a child of a recipient.

If you are a dependent of a victim of
the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack.

If you are eligible as a dependent of
a deceased law enforcement/ fire suppression personnel killed in the
line of duty.
METHOD B
For
families who meet the
income criteria for 2007.
Complete the BOGW application, provide signatures, and take it to
the Financial Aid Office
Dependent students
must use Parent’s income and household size. A parent’s
signature is required. Do not include student’s income.
Independent students must use student’s (and spouses) income and
household size.
Income includes: Adjusted Gross Income, wages not reported on a tax
return, all untaxed income such as disability, child support, social
security, payments made on your behalf, loans or cash gifts. Do
not include the Earned Income Credit or the Additional Child Tax
Credit reported on the tax form as income.

METHOD C
1. Complete
the 2008-2009 FAFSA application using Santa Ana College, code number
001284.
2.
The
Financial Aid Office will determine unmet need after an EFC has been
established. A Board of Governors Enrollment Fee Waiver will be
processed for anyone with at least $ 1 of unmet need. Student
budget minus the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) equals the
amount of unmet need.
3. Refunds
will be issued to anyone who qualifies, who has already paid fees
for the academic year.
