2006-2007
To be eligible for a Cal Grant, an
applicant must:

Be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident,
or eligible non-citizen
-
Be a California resident attending an
eligible school in California on at least a half-time basis
-
Meet United States Selective Service
requirements if required to do so
-
Apply prior to the March 2 deadline.
(The 2006-2007 deadline for new applicants is March 2, 2006)
-
Meet the satisfactory academic
progress standards as determined by the institution the student is
attending
-
Not have received a prior bachelor's
degree
-
Not be in default on a federal loan or
owe a refund on a federal or state grant
-
Not exceed the total family income or
family assets ceilings outlined below:

For
2006-2007, Cal Grant B recipients
cannot have completed more than one semester or two quarters of
full-time college study, or the equivalent of 16 semester units of
part-time study at a college or university, or more than four and one
half months at a vocational/technical school prior to July 1, 2005.
(Except for students who are awarded community college transfer
awards.) All Cal Grant B recipients must be undergraduates.

Cal Grant A recipients and about 500
special Cal Grant B recipients will have their grade level determined
by the school at which they receive their first payment.
Students must be undergraduates. New Cal Grant A awards are not
available to grade level 4 (college senior) applicants.
