Application Process

2005-2006
FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION PROCESS

STEP 1.   JANUARY 2005

Complete the 2005-2006 FAFSA or the Renewal FAFSA mailed to your home.  If the Renewal Application is not available, the 2005-2006 FAFSA should be used.

Organize your and your parents' 2004 income information which you will need to complete the FAFSA accurately.  You will need 2004 income records such as 2004 W2-forms, 2004 Federal Income 1040 Tax returns if available and records of untaxed income received during 2004, including income earned but paid in cash.

NOTE:  The FAFSA is required for most student aid programs, including grants, loans, and federal work-study.

There are a lot of good reasons to fill out your Federal Student Assistance application and submit it on the web.  This site walks you through the FAFSA on-line application.

This is a government web site, but it sure isn't stuffy and boring!

STEP 2.   MARCH 2005

Mail the FAFSA no later than March 2, 2005.  NEW Cal Grant applicants must also mail the completed GPA verification form to the California Student Aid Commission no later than March 2, 2005.

NOTE: Students may still complete the FAFSA after March 2nd and will still be considered for financial aid at Santa Ana or Santiago Canyon College. However, the March 2nd deadline must be met to be considered for Cal Grant programs.

STEP 3.   APRIL - MAY 2005

Complete the packet of supplemental forms mailed to the student.  The deadline to submit the supplemental forms for priority consideration for financial aid at RSCCD is August 31, 2005.

Once the FAFSA has been processed by the processing center (usually within four to six weeks after submitting the FAFSA), a Student Aid Report (SAR) will be mailed to the student and all colleges listed on the FAFSA will receive the student's record.  As we receive processed FAFSA records, a packet of supplemental forms will be mailed to students beginning in June.
