The Assistive Technology Center (ATC) provides students with
disabilities the opportunity to access computer systems
using Jaws, ZoomText, Kurzweil
1000, Kurzweil 3000, and Dragon
NaturallySpeaking Professional. Additionally, the ATC
provides each student the opportunity to utilize the
following devices: AlphaSmart Portable Notetaker, CCTV's,
scanners, A Braille Embosser, MPower Notetakers, Notebook
Computers and the ICommunicator for our Deaf/Hard of Hearing
Students.
The ATC was designed to
provide computer assisted instruction through the use of
assistive technology for disabled students as well as an
open lab environment. Instruction emphasis is on mastering
appropriate assistive computer technologies and small group
instruction in Windows, Microsoft Office and Internet/Email
access. Classes taught
in the ATC are Open entry/Open exit and hours are arranged by
the instructor.
