How do I enroll in the LD Program? Students may be referred to the program by an instructor, counselor, or community agency, or they may refer themselves. Each student will receive an initial interview and then be assessed individually.

State Learning Disability Eligibility Guidelines: According to the Title V regulations which govern the California Community Colleges, the definition of a learning disability is as follows: Learning disability in California Community College adults is a persistent condition of presumed neurological dysfunction which may also exist with other disabling conditions. This dysfunction continues despite instruction in standard classroom situations. Learning-disabled adults, a heterogeneous group, have these common attributes:
a) average to above average intellectual ability; b) severe processing deficit; c) severe aptitude-achievement discrepancy(ies): d) measured achievement in an instructional or employment setting.

This course is designed to prepare students with disabilities to arrive at college with qualities for academic participation and academic success already developed. Students will learn how to utilize resources and services and employ strategies for college success. This course takes place at select SAUSD high schools.
This course is designed to determine eligibility for learning disabilities services through an assessment of learning potential and basic skill levels.
