As part of the vocational
educational plan for each of the
CalWORKs participants, the District
develops a work experience assignment to supplement the participant's
classroom learning with a related work site. These work sites are
available in a variety of occupational areas. Work experience positions are available on
RSCCD
campuses.
The Job Developer monitors
the student's progress with the job site supervisors. Student's work
is evaluated on a monthly basis.
Job Development and
Permanent Placement
The District provides job
development / job placement services for all
CalWORKs participants. The
purpose of Job Development / Placement services include:
-
Placing
CalWORKs students in unsubsidized employment activities that enable them
to meet their work participation requirements
-
Providing participants with
practical experience that will make them more marketable when they
complete their educational program
-
Creating job placements with Orange
County businesses; interfacing with off campus agencies including EDD,
One-Stop Career Centers, and Workforce Investment Board.
All
CalWORKs students
actively participate with our job developers in intensive job search and
placement. The job developer assists students in setting daily job
search goals such as filling out applications, making phone calls,
establishing contacts with local employers, obtaining job interviews, and
securing unsubsidized employment upon completion of their educational
services plan.
