Child Care

Childcare is available for all CalWORKs students, either through the Orange County Social Services Agency, our RSCCD Centers or through vouchering.  RSCCD has four Centers to serve our students: the Santa Ana Campus Center, Centennial Child Care Center, Santiago College Campus Center, and Orange Education Child Care Center.

Infant/toddler children six months to three years are also served at both the Santa Ana College Child Development Center and the Santiago Canyon College Child Development Center.

The SAC Centers follow the Santa Ana College calendar.  The Centers will be closed whenever classes on Campus are not in session.  See below for operating hours.

Vouchering is also available for those who go to school or work at night, weekends, and/or evenings.  The process is simple and it does require one to two weeks time.  Vouchering is available for school-age children covering after school care, year round school breaks, and vacations.

There are three kinds of vouchering available:

  • Licensed Childcare Center

  • Licensed In-Home Childcare Provider

  • License-exempt Family Member.

Students desiring child care services through the RSCCD CalWORKs Program must first meet with their College CalWORKs Counselor/Case Manager; at that time students needing child care services will be referred to the CalWORKs Child Care Representative.  An appointment will be made and an assessment of the Childcare needs can be made.

The Rancho Santiago Community College District child development centers are licensed and have been funded by the State Department of Education for more than 20 years.   Child care services include  materials, activities, and snacks.   A staff nutritionist plans, shops, and prepares meals when provided by the program.
