The New Horizons program is
designated as the initial entry point for CalWORKs students enrolled in
training programs located at Santa Ana Community College.
Counselors / case managers have responsibility for
monitoring, orientation, needs assessment, referral of students to
appropriate support services, and intervention strategies.
Counselors and case managers assist students in the school enrollment
process, monitor their academic progress and make the full array of
district support services at their disposal. They will assist
students to develop an educational services plan and refer the student to
appropriate district services, including child care and work study.
Their educational plan will include sufficient hours of instruction in the
participant's chosen occupational program and work study related to the
participant's occupational program.
