In order to assure
"reasonable accommodation" of students with disabilities,
Nealley Library has collaborated with the Assistive
Technology Center of DSPS
(Disabled Students Programs and Services) to develop the following
guidelines:
- Students requiring assistance in
research or using electronic resources shall be referred to the
reference desk where a librarian will either work immediately
with the student or set up a research appointment for a future
time.
- Library orientations for
students with disabilities are held as needed.
- Two computer workstations, with
special features to make it more accessible to students with
disabilities, is located across from the Reference area of the
library. In addition to the standard workstation features,
hardware on this workstation includes an adjustable desk and
monitor stand. Software includes the JAWS screen reader
(headphones provided) and ZOOM TEXT Screen enlarger.
- Library users with disabilities,
other than students, shall also be accommodated with reasonable
assistance.
Implementation of Section 508 of
the Rehabilitation Act of 1973: Web Resources
Any questions or problems that
cannot be handled at the Circulation Desk or Reference Desk should
be referred to Nell Yang, the Library Liaison to DSPS, phone (714)
564-6703, email yang_nell@rsccd.org,
office L-111.
These guidelines will be reviewed
each semester by the Library and DSPS to determine if any
modification is required.
