Reading N80A -
Fundamentals of Reading (3 units)

Prerequisite: None
|
Group instruction in basic reading skills including techniques for improving vocabulary and spelling, work attack skills, and reading comprehension. Not applicable to associate degree. Grade: CR/NC only.

Fundamental of Reading (3 units)

|
Continued group instruction in basic reading skills including technique for improving vocabulary and comprehension. Note applicable to associate degree. Grade: CR/NC only.

Individualized Reading (1-3 units)

Prerequisite: None

Individualized instruction in vocabulary, comprehension, critical evaluation and reading rate. May be continued until three units are earned. Not applicable to associate degree. Grade: CR/NC only.

Reading for Meaning (1-3 units)

Prerequisite: None
|
Continued critical reading and development of background information needed for success in understanding texts, essays, and stores in a specific subject area such as literature, American history and government, geography, etc. Subject focus varies by semester. Related multi-cultural readings included. Grade: CR/NC only.

Reading 095 -
Preparation for College Reading (3 units)

Prerequisite: Satisfactory score on Reading Placement Test
|
Academic readings are critically analyzed, emphasizing comprehension, vocabulary enhancement, and study reading. Credit is earned by demonstrating comprehension at the 10th grade level and fulfills the Reading Proficiency requirement for the Associate degree. Lab may be required.

Advanced and Critical Reading (1-3 units)

Prerequisite: Qualifying score on Reading Placement Test or completion of Reading 90A or 90B with a grade of C or better.

Individualized instruction in critical reading, comprehension, vocabulary, and skimming. Reading 100A offers 1-3 units and may be continued until three units are earned. Grade: CR/NC only.
