R.N. Program Options (Three Options)
     

Option I

Generic R.N., Academic Program of Two Years

  1. Completion of the admission prerequisites.

  2. Admission into the Santa Ana College Registered Nursing (RN) program at the first year of the program.

Option II

L.V.N. to R.N., Academic Program of One Year

Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) are admitted at the beginning of the second year of the program depending upon space availability. To apply for licensure as a Registered Nurse one must be licensed in California as a Vocational Nurse and:

  1. Complete the admission prerequisites.

  2. Be admitted into Santa Ana College RN program for advanced placement into the beginning of the second year of the program with college credit granted for 18 units of LVN courses. 

  3. Complete the Role Transition course with "Credit" before entering the third semester.

  4. Be advanced placed which is dependent upon space availability in the program.

Option III

Thirty (30) Unit Option (BRN Regulation 1429), academic program of one year.

Information on the Thirty (30) Unit option is available in the Nursing Department. Applicants interested in this option are required to meet with the Program Director and:

  1. Must be licensed in California as a Vocational Nurse.

  2. Complete the prerequisites required for the 30 Unit Option.

  3. Complete the Role Transition course with "Credit" before entering the third semester.

  4. Be advanced placed which is dependent upon space availability in the program.
