Theatre Arts Degree
The associate degree in theatre arts provides a background in
such areas as acting, directing, musical theatre, technical theatre, and
related theatrical technologies. Completion of the associate in arts degree
will prepare students to move into a curriculum at a four-year institution
leading to a baccalaureate degree. The baccalaureate may lead to careers in
teaching, theatre design, technical theatre, theatre management, professional
performance, community performance, stage direction, stage management,
salesmanship, or occupations where dealing with the public is important.

Entertainment Lighting Technology
Certificate (SAC 2394)
The Entertainment Lighting Technology Certificate is designed
to provide professional training for students who have an interest in the
technical side of the entertainment industry with a specialty in lighting.
Career opportunities in this area include:
- Lighting Technician
- Lighting Programmer
- Automated Lighting Specialist
- Master Electrician
- Assistant Lighting Designer
- Lighting Designer
The program provides students with hands-on experience and a
working knowledge of the creative and technical issues involved with
entertainment lighting. Students will become proficient in the utilization of
both conventional lighting systems as well as the emerging technologies of
automated lighting systems. These skills, joined with current and contemporary
computer applications, provide the student with a superior educational
experience and prepare the student to be competitive in a variety of lighting
occupational fields such as concerts, dance, television, theatre, theme parks,
sports arenas, churches, industrial applications, and more.
