Art-DIGITAL MEDIA ARTS Degree (SAC 0305)
The associate degree program in Art-Digital Media Arts merges
fine arts and technical knowledge required to develop skills necessary in two
areas: graphic design, and web design. Completion of the associate degree
prepares students to move into curriculum at a four-year institution leading to
a baccalaureate degree or into a professional art school with an emphasis in
digital media art. Completion of the associate degree also provides for entry
into a profession in a variety of areas: advertising agency, printing business,
design studio, web production, freelance designer or related fields.

Art-DIGITAL MEDIA ARTS Certificate
(Formerly: Art-Advertising Design Certificate)
The certificate programs in digital arts reflect the rapidly
changing industry of the advertising/graphic design field in relation to
graphic design for printed media, the impact of web design on e-commerce, and
the integration of motion graphics into this field. The programs are designed
with a combination of courses from fine art and digital media to develop
technical skills and creativity in the areas of digital imaging, electronic
page layout, graphic principles of web design, and interactive design for
multimedia. Graduates of these programs will find entry into the profession at
various levels with employment opportunities in the fields of advertising,
graphic design, printing industry and e-commerce.

Art-DIGITAL MEDIA Freelance Certificate (SAC 2690)
The Digital Media Freelance Certificate is intended for
students who are ready to share their areas of expertise (graphic design, music
design, video shooting or editing) in a production team environment. This
certificate provides students with the opportunity to work with real world
customer requests. Projects will contribute to their portfolios to better
prepare them to begin their careers.
Career opportunities in this area include:
- Graphic design for printed materials, web sites, video, TV, CD/DVD
- Music designer for web design, video, film, TV, radio, CD/DVD
- Video producer, editor, camera operator, writer for web, TV, video, CD/DVD
- Web designer using text, graphics, photos, illustrations, motion and music
- Art Director managing research and design for Brand Identity campaigns

Students gain real world work experience with all aspects of
freelancing in the digital media industry. This work based learning experience
is designed to provide students with opportunities to work in teams with actual
customers to produce digital media communications and to develop a plan for
their freelancing career. While working with the digital media business,
students assume different team roles such as, project manager, graphic
designer, music designer, video producer or editor, customer representative,
resource manager and web designer. Upon completing this certificate program,
students will have experience working directly with customers, and developing
their portfolios with customer project examples.

Art-DIGITAL MEDIA Post-Production Certificate (SAC 2590)
The Digital Post-Production Certificate provides an
inter-disciplinary approach to the editing and manipulation of digital media.
This integrated sequence of classes addresses the various aspects of digital
media as they continue to converge into an all-encompassing discipline. Skill
areas include digital media for print, web, music, audio, video, DVD production
and animation. Students learn standard, state-of-the-art equipment and software
for the industry and also become well versed in related business issues for
freelancers as well as staff editors. This course of study is intended for
students who have taken classes or have experience in the areas of digital
design, digital music recording and/or video editing and would like to learn
how all the pieces fit together for a career in multimedia post production.
