UTC / Transfer Mentor Program

The Santa Ana College University Transfer Center has created the
Transfer Mentor Program to promote peer collaboration and learning among Santa Ana College transfer students.

The program aims to facilitate navigation of the transfer process and promote the retention of transfer students at universities. Mentees and mentors may receive a stipend upon successful completion of the program as funds permit. Other benefits include peer support, personal growth, networking, interpersonal skills and an attractive resume.
 

  • Current SAC student eligible to transfer Fall 2010

  • Planning to transfer to one of the following: UCLA, UCI, UCR, CSULB, CSUF, CSUDH, CSULA or Cal Poly Pomona

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA

  • Demonstrate financial need

  • Have an updated Educational Plan

  • AB540 students are welcome to apply

Mentor Selection Criteria:

  • Former SAC student (Alumni)
  • Current CSUF, CSULB, Cal Poly Pomona, CSUDH, UCR, UCLA, UCI student, with at least 12 units completed
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Satisfactory recommendations
  • AB540 students are welcome to apply
  • Knowledge of university
  • Familiar with resume building, university requirements, scholarships applications, and financial aid process.
     

 

  • Attend mandatory orientation
  • Participate in all program activities
  • Meet with Mentor/Mentee for a total of 20 hours per academic year (fall-spring)
  • Maintain good standing and make timely progress towards transferring
  • Apply for financial aid or scholarships as applicable
  • Meet with designated university representatives
  • Update educational plan each semester
