CAL Grant Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for a Cal Grant, an applicant must:
- Be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen
- Be a California resident attending an eligible school in California on at least a half-time basis
- Meet United States Selective Service requirements if required to do so
- Apply prior to the March 2 deadline.
- Meet the satisfactory academic progress standards as determined by the institution the student is attending
- Not have received a prior bachelor's degree
- Not be in default on a federal loan or owe a refund on a federal or state grant
- Not exceed the total family income or family assets ceilings outlined below:
