CalWORKs is an acronym for “California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids.” The objective of the CalWORKs program is to serve as an advocate for students meeting the new Welfare to Work requirements. We provide a variety of support services to help students successfully complete their dream of a college degree, which will lead to the career ladder of self-sufficiency.
The CalWORKs program provides the following services:
- Vocational training
- Case management
- Child care
- Job development and placement
- Student support services
Vocational Training
Vocational training provides career assessment, employment skills training, and esteem building through workshops and classes at the Success Center.
Case Management
Case management is available for all CalWORKs clients referred by the Orange County and Los Angeles County Social Services Agency to any
of the programs or campuses in the district.
Child Care
Child care services currently available in the District are augmented by the District's Child Development Program. Operational hours are Monday through Friday (Monday through Thursday in summer) at multiple locations and through off-campus licensed care providers. Some locations have limited services on Friday.
Job Development and Placement
Work Experience and Permanent Job Placement Services
Work experience positions supplement the participant's classroom learning with related worksite educational and training experiences.
Permanent Job Placement for CalWORKs participants includes job development and placement. Available services are: resume writing, interview preparation,
and job listing referrals.

RSCCD college support services for CalWORKs include, but are not limited to:
