Ginger Osborne
Education:
Ginger Osborne received her B.A. degree in psychology with honors at
the University of California, Santa Barbara and her graduate training at
the University of Southern California. There she earned a Masters of
Arts degree with a specialization in physiological psychology and a
Doctor of Philosophy degree with an emphasis on adult development. For
her research on the effects of exercise on the moods of older adults,
she was awarded an Administration of Aging Dissertation Research
Fellowship. Additionally, she has received post-graduate clinical
training at the Psychiatry/Mental Health Unit, UCI Medical Center; the
Andrus Older Adult Center, USC; and the Sex Research Institute, a part
of the Langley Porter Neuropsychiatric Institute, UCLA.
In 2003 Dr. Osborne was recognized by
students and faculty for her contributions to Santa Ana College with the
Distinguished Faculty Award. The address that she gave as part of the
award was entitled, Successful Aging: Mind, Body and Spirit. She was
also the recipient, with colleague Chi-Kwan Shea, of an Instructional
Improvement Grant awarded by the state Community College Chancellor's
Office. The project's title was Integration of Academic and Vocation
Education in a Course on Psychology of Adulthood and Aging. In all of
her classes, she is interested in helping students to develop as
scholars and as human beings and to apply psychological principles to
more effective living.
