Santa Ana College utilizes the<strong> Test of Essentials Academic Ski</strong><strong>lls</strong> (TEAS). It tests math, English, reading and science. <div style="text-align:left">6- Once the Role Transition course, N-RN 200, is successfully completed, you will be notified when space is available in the appropriate semester for entry into the Nursing Program.</div>

<div style="text-align:left"><em><strong>* The Role Transition course, RN 200 is required prior to entering the third semester. The Role Transition course has content about the conceptual framework, concept mapping, roles of the nurse, communication, fluid and electrolytes, and tests skills and nursing knowledge. Students will be contacted as to when to take the Role Transition course. Upon successful completion of the course and the TEAS Version V test, students will be contacted to enter the program on a space available basis.</strong></em></div>
<h3 class="sac-rteElement-H3"><div>Program information:</div></h3>
<div style="text-align:left"><strong>1</strong>- The Program is four semesters in length and begins with RN 101/101L. Students can currently be advanced placed into second or fourth semester. Successful completion of the Program will result in an Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) as well as eligibility to take the nursing licensing exam (NCLEX-RN). The Santa Ana College Nursing Program is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting.</div>
<div style="text-align:left"> </div>
<div style="text-align:left"><strong>2</strong>- The Traditional Program admits students twice each year. Theory courses meet 2 times per week. Clinical courses are 8 or 12 hours for 1 or 2 days per week. Clinical days are usually Mondays and/or Tuesdays; however, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays may also be utilized. The semesters are 16 weeks. </div>
<div style="text-align:left"> </div>
<div style="text-align:left"><strong>3</strong>- The Extended Campus Program (ECP) admits students once each year. Theory courses meet 1 day per week in the evening except during the fourth semester when they meet twice per week. Clinical courses are 12 hours on every Saturday or every other Saturday and Sunday. The semesters are 16 to 21 weeks, depending on the semester (1st and 3rd are 21 weeks; 2nd semester is 19 weeks; 4th semester is 16 weeks). The 1st and 3rd semesters begin in July and end in December; the 2nd and 4th semesters begin in January and end in May. ECP theory courses (generally) and Skills and Computer Labs are housed at St. Joseph Hospital of Orange. All students may participate in the Skills and Computer Labs at St. Joseph Hospital of Orange and Santa Ana College.</div>
<div style="text-align:left"> </div>
<div style="text-align:left"><strong>4</strong>- Community-based nursing clinical days for both the Traditional and ECP programs are arranged on days other than regular clinical days.</div>

<div><h3 class="sac-rteElement-H3">How students are chosen from the list:</h3></div>
<div style="text-align:left"><strong>a</strong>- Students who have completed Role Transition and TEAS Version V are notified when space is available in the program.</div>

<div style="text-align:left"><strong>b</strong>- Space is created because a student from the previous semester has not progressed for some reason or additional funding is available. </div>
<div style="text-align:left"> </div>
<div style="text-align:left"><strong>c</strong>- Re-Entry students are given priority. If space is still available, students will be notified in the order placed on the entry list AND once Role Transition and TEAS testing are completed.</div>
<div style="text-align:left"> </div>
<div style="text-align:left"><strong>d</strong>- Space may be available in the Traditional and/or ECP Programs.</div>

<h3 class="sac-rteElement-H3">Important things to consider for entry into the program:</h3>

Service must have been in the active military, naval, or air service, including the National Guard. Proof of discharge is required. An eligible spouse of a veteran means the veteran has to have died from a service-related disability, been MIA, or captured/forcibly detained.<br /> </div>
