Criminal Justice Academies
POST Regular Basic Course
Modular Format

Santa Ana College in partnership with the Orange County Sheriff's Department will be offering an Extended Modular Basic Academy starting in January of 2009.  The Basic Course - Modular Format is delivered in a three level instructional sequence.  Successful completion of Module III, Module II, and Module I, satisfies the Regular Basic Course training as required by P.O.S.T.

The Modular Academy is ideal for anyone who is interested in a career in law enforcement but is unable to attend a full-time, six month Basic Academy.  Modules III, II, and I are offered part-time on evenings and weekends during the course of a one year period.  The Level III, II, and I Modules also satisfies P.O.S.T. requirements to become a Level III, II, and I Reserve Police Officer.

Individuals who are considering attending the Modular Basic Academy as an independent will have to be approved into the program.  To start your screening process, call the CJA office at (714) 566-9200 to set up an appointment with John Finch, Criminal Justice Academies Assistant Coordinator.

Class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-10pm and Saturdays from 8am-4:30pm at the Orange County Sheriff's Regional Training Academy, 15991 Armstrong Avenue, Tustin, CA 92782.  Other days may be added to the academy schedule as necessary.

** The Module I Academy meets four days a week:  Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 6-10 pm AND
Saturdays 8 am - 4:30 pm.
